The genesis of the K.V.
Kendriya Vidayalaya, Baddowal came into existence in July 1984. |
Important milestones of growth
- In 2005 the Vidyalaya was upgraded to 10+2 with commencement of Commerce stream.
- The transfer of 7.99 acres of land for Vidyalaya building is in final stage.

Gradual year wise expansion in classes and sections leading to present status
- 1984 - with one section each in classes I to V (Primary wing)
- 1985 Addition of class VI (one section)
- 1986- addition of class VII (one section)
- 1987 Addition of class VIII (two section in each class)
- 1988 Addition of class IX (two section in each class)
- 1989 Addition of class X (two section in each class)
- 2005- Addition of class XI (Commerce) one section.
- 2006- Addition of class XII (Commerce) one section.

Initially the Vidyalaya started working in Army Barracks in July 1984. It was shifted to temporary Building in October 1985 and till date it is running in that building. |
Facilities available including games and sports facilities
The Vidyalaya has got a well stocked library with more than 5000 books on various subjects and two modernized Computer Labs with 37 computers and internet facility. 2 nd Computer Lab. is developed this year and 18 Computers are installed with Network facility. All this has been possible due to the cooperation of the Hon'ble Chairman, Col. Peyush Joshi. I also thank the Admn. Officer Col. R.S. Yadav and MES authorities for their help in the construction of special rooms for this purpose. We also maintain our own Vidyalaya website www.kvbaddowal.org' in which the entire information about the activities of our Vidyalaya is given and updated regularly. We have a well equipped Science laboratory. This year a new Rizograph and a photocopier have been purchased to provide essential and additional study material to the students. A fully equipped Resource Room with Computers, LCD Projector, Television, DVD Player is also added to make the teaching learning process effective and interesting for the students of Primary Wing.
Specious football ground, Kho-kho ground, Badminton court, Long & triple jump court, 2 Play grounds, Swings for the students of primary section.

Location and Building
Kendriya Vidyalaya is located in the campus of Baddowal Cantt. Situated on the Ferozepur Road about 8 Km. from Ludhiana City.The cantonment which houses the Vidayalaya is safe, secure nestled in sylvan surroundings, far from the polluted environment of Ludhiana, Baddowal is well connected with both bus and rail links within 1 Km radius. The Vidyalayas was established in July 1984 to cater to the needs of the children of defence personnel serving in the installations of Dholewal Cantt. & Jagraon Bridge, Paramilitary forces like ITBP, Central excise, Banks and other Govt. & Semi Govt. organizations. The wards of retired personnel are also benefited by this Vidyalaya. The school is up to XII class with commerce stream. Each class has two sections and each section has 35 to 40 students. Hence there is ample scope for individual attention.
House System
The students have been alotted different houses to conduct various co-curricular activities such as poem recitation, debate, declamation etc.The students are selected on the basis of merit act as and maintain discipline in the school. This helps them to acquire qualities of leadership and responsibilities and thus enable them to become useful citizens. The house system is as follows.
